Kirk is a Georgia native who moved to Atlanta for school in 2006. He earned his bachelor degrees in political science and women's, gender and sexuality studies from Emory University and later completed his master of social work from Georgia State University - where he wrote his thesis on restaurant labor and the efficacy of Giving Kitchen programs.
Before he joined Giving Kitchen, Kirk taught speech and debate at an Atlanta high school where he coached two national champions. Throughout his time teaching and while graduate school, Kirk bartended in Decatur, where he developed a love of the restaurant industry and the people in it. Giving Kitchen was a natural fit given his love of the industry and interest in social services.
When Kirk isn't at Giving Kitchen, he's reading about wine, cooking or snuggling with his Boston Terrier, Buddy.
