Change: seldom welcomed, and usually feared. 2017, for Giving Kitchen, was a year of change.
We said goodbye to Executive Director, Stephanie Galer, who was responsible for the foundational strength of our organization. Stephanie was instrumental in building GK’s core process - programmatic, fundraising and financial - and she left big shoes to fill.
I was fortunate to be welcomed to the GK team in the summer as the son of restaurant owners who thought he’d left the industry far behind. But I was back for my most important shift yet as GK’s new executive leadership... and the change only picked up in pace.
With that change came a new brand identity, new website, new teammates, new programs and a new strategic plan – all while serving more restaurant workers than ever before, including a statewide initiative serving restaurant workers displaced by Hurricane Irma. Giving Kitchen moved out of its infancy and took baby steps into adulthood. Change was afoot, but there was a constant during this season of disruption.
Giving Kitchen was able to maintain its level of service while also planning for the future because of your unyielding support. From Team Hidi to Give Atlanta, 2017 was a record-breaking year for gifts large and small.
Thank you for your support as we serve those who serve us every day. While Giving Kitchen continues to grow and change to serve more people, you allow us to be a constant, stabilizing force for restaurant workers and their families.
