OSSABAW CHEFs CREATIVE WEEKEND
April 26-28, 2019
Imagine a pristine barrier island for you and 15 friends accompanied by a talented team of naturalists, chefs, bartenders and musicians. Welcome to GK’s weekend on Ossabaw!
Located just south of Savannah, Ossabaw Island is beautiful beyond description and only available to visit by invitation. Take in picture-perfect sunrises, explore historic ruins, sit a spell on rocking-chair front porches with marsh views for miles. And your island guide: Georgia’s greatest living naturalist and former GBP-TV host, Cathy Sakas.
Your hosts for the weekend: GK’s own Bryan Schroeder and Staplehouse + GK Spokesperson, Jen Hidinger-Kendrick.
Start your day with a from-scratch breakfast. Lunch will be prepared by Joel Penn of Vinetta, a rising star in Atlanta’s underground restaurant scene.
Each night at sunset, enjoy a living-room style performance from musicians Kristina Murray and Tedo Stone, plus raw oysters, grilled bites and cocktails prepared by Bryan Rackley and John Wayne Kendrick of Kimball House.
Friday: Indulge in a family-style dinner from Mike and Shyretha Sheats of The Plate Sale, a pop-up specializing in African-American food culture and cuisine of the South.
Saturday: Former Staplehouse teammates Sam Herndon and Christopher Hathcock (Husk Savannah) team up for an artfully-crafted meal inspired by beautiful Ossabaw.
Dinners will be paired with Creature Comforts Brewing Co. beers and a selection of wines.
Lodging includes four private bedrooms (two twin beds each) in a restored historic bungalow with one private and two shared baths, plus two rooms with four bunk beds (eight beds total) and three bathrooms in the main house.
All meals, libations and boat to the island are included.
Arrive in Savannah early in the afternoon on April 26. We will have you back in Savannah around lunchtime on April 28.
Island time at its finest - and only at Team Hidi!
