Olde Pink House Disaster Relief

GK’s shift has started.

Giving Kitchen is coming to the aid of the nearly 300 Olde Pink House employees who are out of work due to the recent fire that has temporarily closed the Savannah,GA restaurant.

Giving Kitchen is offering disaster relief grants for those who need financial assistance due to job loss from the fire by applying by January 31, 2019. Funds raised at participating events as well as restricted donations from the public will be equally distributed to Olde Pink House employees who apply by the deadline. GK will in turn match up to $100 of that amount for each applicant.

Food service workers in the Coastal Georgia area are encouraged to join the GK | Food Service Workers Coastal GA group, a private group monitored by Giving Kitchen to share job openings and other resources to help workers find stability in the immediate future. Businesses willing to offer direct support to affected workers may also request to join the group. Anyone requesting to join should answer the group questions to ensure approval.

If you would like to contribute to the Olde Pink House disaster relief fund, please give here. You may also mail a check (write “Pink House” on the memo line) to Giving Kitchen, Attn: Pink House Disaster Relief, 513 Edgewood Avenue, Suite 100, Atlanta GA, 30312. Donations made after January 31, 2019 will go to Giving Kitchen’s general fund to assist food service workers in the Savannah area.

If you would like to host a fundraiser to support Olde Pink House employees, please email Abbey Freund or call 404-254-1227.

For questions about the grant application process, please email application@thegivingkitchen.org or call 404-254-1227. Please note that GK has a Spanish speaker on staff.

While GK is here to support Olde Pink House employees affected by this unexpected tragedy, GK’s direct and matching grants are open to food service workers in Georgia who need financial assistance because of an illness, injury, disaster such as house fire or flood, or death of an immediate family member that has happened within the past 6 months. Please note that this is a separate application process where supporting documentation will be required to show that financial need has been caused by a qualifying crisis.
