Presidential in Plains
Plains, GA: March 15-17, 2019
Four guests are invited to spend the weekend of March 15 in Plains exploring the sleepy South Georgia town the 94-year-old 39th President of the United States Jimmy Carter calls home.
And since you’re in his hometown, on Sunday morning, President Carter is scheduled to give a Sunday School lecture at Maranatha Baptist Church. The Sunday School is open to the public, but entry into the church is dependent on waking up very early and waiting in a very long line... for most people. But YOU are not most people.
This is a self-guided weekend in the county. Giving Kitchen’s Bryan Schroeder will greet you upon arrival to make sure you’re set up and ensure that your fridge is stocked with all the basics - yes, there will be beer.
Accommodations in a restored sharecropper’s cabin situated on 20 acres of woodlands and rolling farmland (and a fully stocked pond with floating dock) with two bedrooms (one queen and one set of bunkbeds), a full bathroom, living room, kitchen, heated outdoor shower and beautiful porch.
VIP tour of Williams Peanut Processing Plant, including a shelling facility and peanut warehouse.
VIP tour of Cafe Campesino coffee roastery in Americus, GA.
VIP tour of Richland Rum, Georgia’s own award-winning, single estate rum distillery.
Afternoon fishing, paddling, archery and farm shenanigans.
Evening campfire including s’mores, cold beers, stargazing and wild animal calls (BYOWAC).
Cabin owner John Williams will assist with easy entry and upfront seating for Sunday School with President Carter. Every attendee will have the opportunity to get their picture taken with the former president.
Once in a lifetime. Bring the kids. Bring your folks. Bucket list, fo’ sho’!
