Catherine Mickle
Treasurer
Catherine Mickle is the Chief Financial Officer for the American Cancer Society in Atlanta, Georgia. The American Cancer Society is the largest nationwide voluntary health organization raising approximately $900 million annually. Mickle is also the Chief Financial Officer of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, a 501(c)4 organization and sister organization of the American Cancer Society.
Prior to joining the American Cancer Society, Mickle was the Finance Director and Treasurer for the Turner Foundation, Inc., a private family foundation created by philanthropist Ted Turner that provides grants to environmental and population-control organizations. During that time, she was also the Finance Director and Treasurer for the Captain Planet Foundation, a public charity that provides environmental education to children around the world. Mickle began her career in public accounting in the Business Assurance area of Coopers & Lybrand LLP primarily serving clients in the healthcare and not-for-profit industries such as large health systems, specialty hospitals, hospice, dental health maintenance organizations, life insurance companies and physician practices.
Mickle received a Bachelors of Science in Administration, with high distinction, from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Mickle is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) as well as a member of the AICPA Not-for-Profit Organizations Expert Panel and the Financial Accounting Standards Board Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council and Not-For-Profit Resource Group. She also teaches non-profit financial management at Georgia State University and is a Board member of Side by Side Brain Injury Clubhouse.
