Happy 10 years of Giving Kitchen! Here’s to 13,000 clients served, 5,000 financial assistance recipients, $9M dollars in aid, 6,100 food service workers and children prevented from eviction and homelessness, $15M in excess costs prevented. And here’s to what’s to come.
Of the thousands of Ask for Help forms Gk has received since inception, 1 in 6 of them have come in the last 5 months.
Giving Kitchen received 746 Ask for Help forms in May. This is a 114% increase year-over-year.
Financial assistance provided $288,194 across 95 awards. This assistance is a 64.3% increase year over year and is over 4x the average of May from 2015-2022.
These assistance went to 14 different states with households with 90 children in them, and 46 additional household members. We estimate around 68 clients, 66 children, and 34 household members avoided homelessness with Giving Kitchen's help.
"I’m thrilled to join the team and you all have made me feel so welcome. GK provides life-changing support and I look forward to bolstering operations so we can continue to grow…exponentially!"
Thanks to NFA and all the chefs who participated in the inaugural Burger Benefit!
Your passion and dedication to cooking delicious burgers and supporting our industry helped raise over $50K to support food service workers in crisis. That is the equivalent of almost 50 housing payments, 333 gas bills, 500 power bills, or 1000 water bills.
