Giving Kitchen Supports Your Staff

Giving Kitchen holds a very special place with Parleaux as the organization supported our own team member, and loved front of house staffer, Wesley when he was out with a serious medical condition.

Wesley was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2021 and had a successful brain surgery to remove the tumor. Fast forward to 2022, he started having more vision problems and had to have a second brain surgery. It was supposed to be a quick and easy surgery, but when Wesley woke up, half his vision was gone. Later that day, Wesley had a third brain surgery that led to a very long recovery and left him out of work for many weeks.

Wesley didn’t know what to do, and he knew from his first brain surgery last year, that missing out on income for two months could drain all their savings which could put his family in a serious financial hardship. — And, as if this surgery wasn’t causing enough changes, while Wesley was recovering, his wife surprisingly told him they were expecting their first child!

Rent doesn’t stop when you have a hardship.

As he returned to work during a slow summer season, Wesley remembered Giving Kitchen, an organization helping Georgia food service workers while working in Columbus, and he researched that they had expanded nationally and now supported Louisiana food service workers.

Wesley asked for help from Giving Kitchen and received financial assistance for two months of rent and utilities. Giving Kitchen’s support helped Wesley’s family not be put in a vulnerable situation for the upcoming hurricane season.

When you donate to Giving Kitchen you support food service workers like me and my family — my wife, my puppy and my baby. There’s a face to it all. It’s your server, your bartender, and your cook that receives your support.
