Our Impact in August 2023 |
It was a very busy August — Not to be a broken record in each newsletter, but Giving Kitchen continues to achieve milestones and report busy, record-breaking months. And we are celebrating!
No, we aren’t celebrating the struggle, the crisis, the emergency. We’re celebrating the courage and the trust that it takes to reach out and say “I need help.” The opportunity to help a food service worker rise above challenges is what we celebrate.

Our work in August:
-
Giving Kitchen received 1,240 Ask for Help requests, a 22% increase over July. Of these requests, 21% came from food service workers affected by the Hawaiian wildfires. -
Provided 187 awards and $508,494 across 26 states.
-
This assistance provided 25.6 years of rent and utility assistance. Based on self-reported data, this assistance likely prevented the homelessness of approximately 106 children and 106 clients. -
Stability Network provided 2,202 resources to 505 clients across 26 states. On average, each client was referred to 9.45 resources in their area.
The trust our food service community has shown in Giving Kitchen is humbling and empowering, and it inspires us to continue our work, getting to help food service workers who need it. Thank you for supporting our mission to meet crisis with compassion and care! |
